We gathered for a chance to share a meal and tell stories about John at the Maryknoll Alumni meeting room, about twenty strong. Lots of pictures from throughout his life, lots of stories. Not everyone could be there, but everyone was remembered. Then we took John's ashes up to Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe and held a short buddhist service. Irene Matsumoto was very loving and elegant in her ceremony. John will always be with us. His mortal remains we left on a small hill overlooking Kaneohe Bay, backed by the Koolau mountains, surrounded by flowers. Farewell, my friend.
